FAQ
Please find answers below to some commonly asked questions. If your question is not answered below, please email hello@thecookery-studio.co.uk
The Cookery Studio is located in Bath city centre. As Bath centre is a clean air zone, we strongly recommend checking on the Bath City Council website to check if your vehicle needs to pay a fee to travel in the zone. There are local car parks around the city centre, please click here to view these. Bath is well served by First Bus' Park and Ride, which is a great low stress, low cost option. and Bath Spa train station is only a 10-15 minute walk away (uphill), for anyone travelling by train.
We ask that attendees arrive no more than 10 minutes before the workshop is due to start (e.g. 6:20pm at the latest, for a 6:30pm workshop). This allows you time to get settled so that our Tutors can start our workshops on time and finish as close to the advertised time as possible. If you arrive a little early, we recommend Coret, which serves great coffee, or Côte, for a glass of wine on their beautiful terrace in the Summer months or The Botanist (location for Channel 4's First dates) for a cocktail!
We offer a 5 working day cooling off period once a workshop has been booked. During that time the purchaser can reschedule the booking to a future date. Requests need to be made by email. We hold all our cookery workshops on specific dates, consequently, the consumer right of cancellation does not apply to orders for these types of products. A booking can be cancelled for a dated event within 24 hours of purchase, unless the event has already taken place.
Please see our Terms and Conditions for further information.
We offer a selection of Adult and Child cookery workshops. Each workshop webpage details the minimum age requirements. It may also be that use of some equipment/ participation for children/ young people might be restricted. We we are unable to accommodate children and babies in our adult workshops for insurance reasons and to ensure the enjoyment of all attending the workshop.
Sometimes we are able to adapt menus to suit certain dietary requirements. We request that you contact us before booking to check that we are able to do this and if we are, we ask that you advise at time of making your booking. We purchase and prepare what we need for workshops, so do not hold additional ingredients for special diets unless we are notified of this in advance. We ask for at least 7 working days notice for this as it may require sourcing specialist ingredients. We reserve the right to change a fee where we need to adapt recipes for special diets to cover the cost of specialist ingredients, staff preparation time, waste and recipe development. We also need to be notified of vegetarian and vegan diets.
Due to the nature of how we store and prepare ingredients for workshops, it unfortunately makes it impossible to guarantee the complete absence of any specific allergen or ingredient which may trigger an allergic or intolerance reaction. We legally cannot claim any workshop is free of any allergens as we hold and store all allergens or allergen containing ingredients in our premises. If we are able to adapt the menu, complimentary snacks or sweet treats provided may be unsuitable and we are not always able to offer alternatives.
We are unable to make a transfer as per our Terms provided at time of booking. You would be welcome to send a friend/family member/work colleague in your place, they would need to have the same dietary requirements as those provided at time of booking and age appropriate for the workshop. If you are still unable to send someone else in your place, it might be worth checking whether your bank/ payment card providers automatically provide you with travel insurance cover.
We always endeavour for workshops to finish at their advertised time. We do recognise that our customers will work a different paces and for this reason, we cannot guarantee that it will finish exactly at the advertised time. Do make sure you allow time for the workshop to run over a little, just in case.
All of our workshops include tuition, ingredients, disposable packaging and recipe cards as well as provision of equipment and an apron during the session. All you need to bring along is yourself! If you want to bring sturdier packaging such as plastic containers or tins to take items home, please do. Our dine-in workshops all include time to eat the dishes which you make during the time frame.
We offer a variety of soft drinks and hot drinks for sale during workshops, which can be paid for with cash or card. On our dine-in afternoon and evenings you are welcome to bring beer or wine to enjoy whilst you cook and later eat, we ask you not to bring soft drinks as we do have these available to purchase. We have flutes, wine glasses and tumblers as well as fridge space to chill your drinks.
Please click on the PDF below to view our T+Cs. If you are purchasing the workshop as a gift, we strongly recommend making the recipient aware of these terms. Unfortunately we cannot be held responsible if recipients are unaware we operate a 5 working day cooling off period and after that we are unable to transfer a booking for any reason.
